Liu Xiangchen, a Chinese anthropologist and documentary director has devoted his life to film China’s ethnic minorities living in the margin of his country. As he is about to shoot his last movie on the remote Pamir plateau; he decides to bring his daughter Liu Beibei. The official reason being to pay tribute to the memory of an old Tadjik friend, grandpa Wushor. Faced with unknown challenges, they have to travel on camel backs on the 4000 meters high plateau while crossing raging torrents or hiking on steep mountains. As the journey advances, Liu Beibei gets the chance to finally discovers, and understand, the rough universe of her estranged father.
