For generations the Yusup family has been growing cotton near the bank of the Tarim, a 2000 km long endorheic river that finishes it’s course in the Lop Nur, a salted lake in China’s Xinjiang province.
Director and anthropologist LIU Xianchang has followed for several years the life of those inhabitants living on the edge of the Tamaklan desert. He paints in his film an everyday life that is rhythm by the cycle of seasons, local festivities and a life far away from China’s high speed industrialization.
